Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose
The position will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of
mechanical equipment across the mine site, open-pit mining fleet, processing plant, and
fixed infrastructure. The ability to operate at Engineering Manager level by initiating
Management reports and timeously responding to technical assignments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, install, and maintain mechanical systems: crushers, conveyors, pumps, mills,
and processing plant equipment.
• Develop and manage preventive/predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and lead root-cause analysis.
• Oversee contractors and technicians on repairs, installations, and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with Botswana mining safety regulations and company HSE standards.
• Manage spare parts inventory and equipment procurement specifications.
• Support commissioning new plant equipment as operations ramp up toward production.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance budgets, and equipment performance data.
Requirements
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Registration with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) Botswana, or eligibility to register.
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial plant environments (open-pit/base metals experience a plus).
• Knowledge of crushing/grinding circuits, conveyor systems, hydraulics, and rotating equipment.
• Familiarity with CMMS/maintenance management software.
• Strong understanding of mine safety standards (Botswana Mines and Minerals Act, MOSH).
• Leadership skills are a key requirement.
